KIMONO UPCYCLED BRAND
TOP WAVE
Kimono, Reimagined for Everyday Life.
A KIMONO, REIMAGINED.

01 / ABOUT US
About TOP WAVE
TOP WAVE is a brand that upcycles Japanese kimonos, transforming them into modern fashion.
While preserving the beautiful colors, patterns, and unique textures of kimonos, we recreate them into shirts and clothing that can be enjoyed in everyday life.
We offer one-of-a-kind fashion, with each piece featuring its own unique pattern and character.
02 / OUR STORY
The Beginning of TOP WAVE
The brand was born from a request made to a beauty salon that also rents out kimonos, asking if there was any way to make use of kimonos that were no longer being worn.
Kimonos that have been cherished for many years still contain beautiful fabric that can be used for much longer.
We wanted to pass on their beauty in a new form and have them cherished by someone else once again.
It was from this desire that TOP WAVE was born.
03 / MAKING PROCESS
How Kimono Shirts Are Made
FROM KIMONO TO SHIRT
From a single kimono to a new shirt.
We introduce the production process.
STEP 01 / SOURCING & SELECTION
Sourcing & Selecting Kimonos
We source used kimonos within Japan. After sourcing, we manage each piece individually, select patterns that match the shirt designs, and send them to the sewing factory.
STEP 02 / DECONSTRUCTION
Deconstructing Kimonos
We carefully take apart each piece and check the condition of the fabric. We work carefully to avoid damaging the fabric.
* Approximately 2 hours per kimono
STEP 03 / CUTTING & SEWING
Cutting & Sewing
We combine the deconstructed fabric and tailor it into a shirt. We avoid large stains and adjust small stains to inconspicuous locations.
STEP 04 / COMPLETION
Completion
A one-of-a-kind kimono shirt is born from a single kimono.
04 / ONE OF A KIND
Everything is one of a kind.
Kimonos differ in pattern, color, and fabric texture for each piece.
Because we tailor them while considering the condition of the fabric, we cannot reproduce the same design.
Please enjoy each one-of-a-kind piece with its own individuality.

06 / FABRIC & CARE
About Fabric & Care
About Fabric
Because these products are remade by deconstructing vintage kimonos, it is difficult to determine the exact fiber blend. Please understand this in advance.
Also, you may see "sun-fading," "minor rubbing," and "aging" unique to vintage materials that have been around for many years. We hope you enjoy them as the unique texture and character of vintage.
Care Instructions
- Because delicate kimono fabric is used, we recommend dry cleaning.
- Please avoid washing at home, as it may cause color bleeding, shrinkage, and loss of shape.
- Always use an ironing cloth when ironing. * Please refrain from using steam, as it may damage the fabric.
